Revolutionary War ServicePeter was accused on 31 December 1775 of enlisting men for the British Army and Navy. His in-laws, the Lockwoods, were Loyalists. On 11 April 1776, a writ was issued for Peter for his correspondence with George Vandeput, captain of the British warship HMS Asia, which was stationed in New York Harbor and participated in the Battle of Brooklyn.
